Email from Rep. Mann Message from Rep. Tracey Mann. Having Trouble Viewing? Click Here. Fellow Kansan, Thank you for subscribing to my newsletter! This week, I am spending time with Kansans in Wamego, Riley, and Douglas counties. Follow me on social media to see more of my work throughout the Big First. I do not serve in Congress to be a caretaker in the slow demise of America – I serve to fight and work to make it stronger. That's what I am doing while believing our brightest days are yet to come. Yours in service, Click below to follow me on social media. Mann.House.Gov This Week in the District Watco Company Evergy Company Golf Course Superintendents Association of America In the District Honoring Kansas Ag Heroes Each month, I highlight the life and work of Kansas ag heroes, those who have dedicated themselves to make our state the pilot light of America. This month's ag hero is Kelly Sipes. Kelly has dedicated her entire career to educating youth about the importance of food and agriculture. Thank you, Kelly, for your dedication and commitment to teaching the next generation the importance of feeding, clothing, and fueling the world. It is an honor to serve you in Congress, on the House Agriculture Committee, and in the Congressional FFA Caucus. Attending Good Morning Manhattan Last week, I spoke with Manhattan area business leaders at Good Morning Manhattan, hosted by the Manhattan Chamber of Commerce. I called Manhattan home for four years as a student at Kansas State so it feels full circle for me to now represent Manhattan in the U.S. House of Representatives. I shared an update on my priorities in Washington D.C., the Farm Bill, and my legislative accomplishments on the House Agriculture, House Transportation & Infrastructure, and House Small Business committees. Meeting with Fort Hays State University Fort Hays State University, the largest university in western Kansas, is an example of Kansas' exceptional educational institutions. It was a pleasure meeting with the Fort Hays State University Foundation Board members and learn more about how FHSU is educating our next generation of leaders. Touring APAC Kansas Shears Division APAC Kansas Shears Division represents businesses in the Big First that maintain our state's leadership in infrastructure. As a member of the House Transportation & Infrastructure Committee, one of my biggest priorities is ensuring we have reliable systems to get to work, take our kids to school, and deliver food, fuel, and fiber to the rest of the world. APAC recently won the Sheldon G. Hayes Award, the top paving award from the National Asphalt Pavement Association. Congratulations on this outstanding achievement, and thank you APAC Kansas Shears Division for keeping our roads in good shape! Hosting Director General of Taiwan For decades, Taiwan has been a strategic trade, economic, and military partner to the U.S. Kansas and Taiwan entered a sister-state relationship in 1989, and our ties have been strengthening ever since. Taiwan has consistently ranked as one of Kansas' top 3 import countries and holds a unique place among our international agricultural trading partners. I recently hosted the Director General of Taiwan, Bill Huang, in the Big First. We discussed bolstering economic opportunity for both Taiwan and America. I look forward to Kansas' continuation of agricultural trade and support for our democratic ally, Taiwan, and will continue to advocate for policies that bolster trade and give America’s farmers, ranchers, and agricultural producers access to new markets. Standing with Israel Since October 7, 2023, Israel has defended itself from barbaric terrorism from Iran’s proxy terrorists. Last week, the Israeli defense forces eliminated Yahya Sinwar, the master terrorist behind the Oct. 7 attacks. Sinwar’s elimination is a blow to Iran and its terrorist proxies. This victory is one small step toward finally achieving peace in the Middle East and making the region and the world a safer place. The U.S. stands with Israel. Announcing Spring 2025 Internship Deadline is Today I am accepting internship applications for Spring 2025. My first job on Capitol Hill was interning for a Kansas representative, and I'm honored to extend that same opportunity to other young people. Interns are a vital part of a congressional office, and the program is a rewarding experience for students interested in learning more about our government and serving Kansans in the Big First District. If you, or a student you know, are interested in applying for an internship in my Washington, D.C., Manhattan, or Dodge City offices, please click the link below to learn more and apply. The last day to submit all required application materials is Friday, October 25, 2024, at 11:59 PM CDT. Click here to learn more and apply     Visiting Washington, D.C.?
