๐๐ญ๐จ๐ฉ ๐ซ๐๐๐ข๐ฌ๐ฆ, ๐ง๐จ๐ญ ๐ญ๐ก๐ ๐ ๐๐ฆ๐ - The International conference of MONITORA project
We're very happy to share with you some images (you can find them here) from the International Conference of #MONITORA project, which happened in Rome during the @Festival Sabir Friday, October 11th. The event was hosted by our partner and project coordinator Lunaria , which we thank once again for taking care of everything.Our Project Manager Barbara Gecse attended the conference in presence while our Network Director, Balint Josa, intervened online to share the Hungarian perspective on racism in sport.
The whole conference was the occasion to have interesting conversations on the topics of racism and discrimination but it was also the chance for all the #MONITORA partners to share projects results including the social media campaign and the online training course.
It was also particularly relevant to have this event during the well renown Sabir Festival and with the participation of Mattia Peradotto, Coordinator of Ufficio Antidiscriminazioni Razziali-Presidenza del Consiglio dei Ministri , the Italian AntiDiscrimination Department of the Council of the Ministries.
Our commitment against racism doesn't stop here though, so remember that you can always get in touch with us to know more about MONITORA project and its outputs, so #stayunited and thank you again to all the consortium!
R2COM Final Conference
The R2COM Final Conference โComprehensively Preventing Radicalisation and Extremism in post-release settings: The added-value of NGOs and CSOsโ,was held on October 8th in Toulouse and provided some major insights:
๐As shared by Professor S. Alava in his welcoming speech, despite being crucial, the role of NGOs and CSOs in security topics, including P/CVE isnโt always recognised. Nevertheless, and as recent events have demonstrated, radicalisation and (violent) extremism are social phenomena with local drivers and manifestations, requiring a combination of bottom-up and top-down approaches to their sucessful prevention.
However, should this be done:
๐๐๐๐ถ๐น๐ฑ ๐๐ฟ๐๐๐ ๐ฎ๐ ๐๐ต๐ฒ ๐บ๐ถ๐ฐ๐ฟ๐ผ, ๐บ๐ฒ๐๐ผ, ๐ฎ๐ป๐ฑ ๐บ๐ฎ๐ฐ๐ฟ๐ผ ๐น๐ฒ๐๐ฒ๐น: Invest in further civil society involvement, deepening their connections with local communities, but also other organisations and governments;
๐๐๐ฒ๐๐ฒ๐น๐ผ๐ฝ ๐บ๐๐น๐๐ถ-๐ฑ๐ถ๐๐ฐ๐ถ๐ฝ๐น๐ถ๐ป๐ฎ๐ฟ๐ ๐๐ฒ๐ฎ๐บ๐, ๐ฐ๐ผ-๐ท๐ผ๐ถ๐ป๐๐น๐ ๐๐ผ๐ฟ๐ธ๐ถ๐ป๐ด ๐ถ๐ป ๐ฝ๐ฟ๐ถ๐บ๐ฎ๐ฟ๐, ๐๐ฒ๐ฐ๐ผ๐ป๐ฑ๐ฎ๐ฟ๐, ๐ฎ๐ป๐ฑ ๐๐ฒ๐ฟ๐๐ถ๐ฎ๐ฟ๐ ๐ฝ๐ฟ๐ฒ๐๐ฒ๐ป๐๐ถ๐ผ๐ป: A bridge must be established between different professionals and different levels, enhancing efficacy and efficiency;
In the form of continuous training, tailored assessment frameworks, and case-management support! All materials must be tailored and adapted to meet practitionersโ needs and specificities.
๐คฒThe overall conclusion, in practitionersโ words โYou have it in youโ and as IPSโ team said, โNGOs and CSOs are capable of working in P/CVE, being key actors towards safer and more empowered communities!โ One of the best results of this projects was also being shortlisted for ๐๐ต๐ฒ ๐ฎ๐ฌ๐ฎ๐ฐ ๐๐๐ฟ๐ผ๐ฝ๐ฒ๐ฎ๐ป ๐ฆ๐ผ๐ฐ๐ถ๐ฎ๐น ๐ฆ๐ฒ๐ฟ๐๐ถ๐ฐ๐ฒ๐ ๐๐๐ฎ๐ฟ๐ฑ๐, which results will be shared on November 4th in Lisbon (more info here )
To take a look at the conference you can watch its recording on our Facebook page here. We also take this chance to thank once again all project partners but mostly to all practitioners who so eagerly engaged with the project and made its final conference a co-joint learning experience!
UNITED at the OSCE and Civic Solidarity Platform Meetings in Warsaw
๐ Thanks to our Advocacy Advisor Neringa Tuthankamenaite for representing the Network at the OSCE and Civic Solidarity Platform Meetings in Warsaw!ย She raised UNITED voice by joining the Working Group on Combating Racism, Xenophobia and Intolerance, and the Working Group on Climate Justice, underscoringย the need to transform the global neoliberal system as part of a broader solution. Furthermore, we highlighted the importance of ensuring that international humanitarian and human rights laws are consistently upheld, not only within the OSCE region but also by its member states when addressing international conflicts.
