Region of Waterloo Paramedic Services says they have seen more calls for ambulance services this year, compared to last year.
A report looking at the performance of paramedic services from January to June of this year found that paramedics responded to 24,608 calls, resulting in 28,942 vehicles going out to those calls. This is a 5.4 per cent increase in vehicle response from this time last year.

Paramedics in New Brunswick are working up to 400 extra hours beyond what is required each year for full-time work, says the president of the union representing Ambulance New Brunswick paramedics and dispatchers.
Gregory McConaghy of CUPE Local 4848, said paramedics have been working the extra hours for about five years.

What’s going on with Yorkton’s emergency medical service?
A Facebook post claimed that Crestvue Ambulance had a staffing cut, and that the city’s ambulance service was in a funding crisis.
Yorkton MLA and Minister for Rural and Remote Health Greg Ottenbreit said that from the Provincial Government’s perspective, that’s not the case, and very little has changed. The same contract is in place, requiring three ambulances be available at all times. The funding through the contract also has not changed.

Algoma District Services Administration Board is embarking upon a restructuring plan that could see ambulance services reduced in Hornepayne and Dubreuilville.
The Sault Star has learned the proposed plan, which requires a letter of agreement with the union, could ultimately reduce service from 24 hours a day to 16 hours a day in those communities.
