Florida AG Sues Merrick Garland for Stonewalling the State’s Parallel Investigation of the Second Trump Assassination Attempt

Just the News: Florida Attorney General Ashley Moody sued U.S. Attorney General Merrick Garland on Wednesday, arguing that the Department of Justice is blocking the state from fully investigating the second assassination attempt of former President Trump in Palm Beach. According to the complaint, FBI and DOJ officials acted “almost immediately” to try halting the state’s investigation (Just the News). Hill: Florida may ultimately bring state charges against Routh that include attempted murder, fleeing and eluding and illegally possessing a firearm, according to the new lawsuit (Hill).

Polling Indicates Californians Are Tired of Rampant Crime, Want to See Criminals Punished
Politico: Nearly three-quarters of the California electorate plans to vote for a high-profile ballot measure that would increase penalties for some theft- and drug-related crimes, according to a new poll released Wednesday. Seventy-three percent of likely voters said they would support Proposition 36, the survey from the Public Policy Institute of California found, compared with just 25 percent who plan to oppose it. That’s a slight increase from PPIC’s September poll, which found 71 percent of likely voters in favor of it (Politico). CA Congressman Kevin Kiley: Amazing. A new PPIC poll shows Prop. 36, the measure to make crime illegal again, is leading by a margin of 73 percent to 25 percent. Sanity is around the corner (X).

GOP Committee Finds Biden, Harris Spent $900 Million Pushing Flawed COVID Information
Just the News: The Republican-led House Energy and Commerce Committee released a report Wednesday saying that the Biden-Harris Administration spent nearly a billion dollars promoting COVID-era messaging, much of which turned out to be untrue or misleading. The Congressional report examines the $900 million spent by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services on COVID-era messaging to the American people…. The report said that much of that taxpayer-funded marketing included incorrect information about vaccines, the danger to children, masks and more (Just the News). Energy and Commerce Committee: Much of the scientific content directly featured in or alluded to in Campaign ads and other promotional material was drawn from CDC recommendations, guidance, and research, critical parts of which proved to be deeply flawed. The CDC’s errors and failures to update recommendations and guidance were reflected in the “We Can Do This” ads and promotional materials… Americans cannot afford another botched government response to a future pandemic (house.gov).

Kamala Harris Promises to Change the Supreme Court: "I do believe there should be some kind of reform to the Court"
Katie Pavlich: Speaking during a town hall with CNN Wednesday night, Vice President Kamala Harris entertained a court packing scheme that would destroy the U.S. Supreme Court should she be elected president in November. “I do believe there should be some kind of reform to the Court,” Harris said when asked if she would support expanding the Supreme Court to 12 justices. Harris falsely claimed the “American people” are losing confidence in the Supreme Court. Reality proves it’s Democrats who continue to undermine decisions that don’t fall in line with their political goals (Townhall). Trump War Room: Kamala says she’ll pack the Supreme Court with far-left activist justices if she is elected (X). Ilya Shapiro: American leftists are losing confidence in the Court, which is now overall more popular than it was before Dobbs and more popular than any other part of federal govt—and way more popular than the media. But the partisan gap is historically big (X).

Implosion? Kamala Harris Constituents Reeling After CNN Townhall Disaster
HotAir: In reality, it was otherwise the worst television performance by a candidate for president in my lifetime. Every person in that auditorium – the CNN talent, the audience, the crew, every person in that room came out of that experience realizing Kamala Harris is out of her depth in a bathtub. Now certainly, a percentage of the audience will no doubt cast a ballot for her, only because she happens to be opposing Donald Trump (HotAir). National Review: Kamala Harris’s impressive display of inanity and vapidity — blowing lay-up after lay-up in the friendly environs of yesterday’s CNN town hall moderated by Anderson Cooper — prompted Salem Radio talk-show host Bob Frantz to remark that Harris may be the most incompetent/unprepared major-party presidential candidate of his lifetime, dating back to the Nixon–Humphrey contest  (National Review). Reporter Ryan Saavedra: CNN’s Anderson Cooper grills Kamala Harris for now supporting giving money to build the border wall after she repeatedly attacked Trump for wanting to build a wall. Harris struggles significantly here and now calls the border wall “a good idea” (X). GOP Communicator Steve Guest: Kamala failed to win over CNN in the wake of her town hall: Dana Bash on Kamala’s lack of answers regarding her policies:  “But what will she do? The question about her legislative priorities, name one. There wasn’t one” (X). Benny Johnson: David Axelrod says Kamala Harris has a habit of going to “word salad city” when she doesn’t want to answer a question (X).

Security of State Elections is on the Ballot in North Carolina
Fox News: Next month, North Carolinians will decide whether “only” U.S. citizens are eligible to vote in future state elections. House Bill 1074, referred to as the “Citizen Only Voting” amendment, would clarify the state’s constitution to read that “only a citizen” is allowed to vote… While the state already does not allow noncitizens to vote, proponents say the amendment establishes confidence in elections amid the ongoing immigration crisis. The amendment, if passed, would adjust the wording to say that “only a citizen of the United States who is 18 years of age and otherwise possessing the qualifications for voting shall be entitled to vote at any election in this State…” However, the amendment has received pushback from critics who say it is “an unnecessary and anti-immigrant tactic that will further marginalize North Carolina’s immigrant communities” (Fox News).

Canada to Cut Back on Number of Immigrants
National Review: Canada plans to “significantly reduce” the number of immigrants it allows into the country over the next two years, as Prime Minister Justin Trudeau reverses course amid falling public support for immigration. Canada previously set a target of 500,000 new permanent residents in 2025. Under the new immigration plan, Canada will decrease that target by 21 percent, to 395,000. After 2025, the limit will shrink by roughly 4 percent each year as the government looks to set a target of 365,000 new permanent residents by 2027 (National Review). Immigration News Canada: Canada announces reduction in immigration target from 500,000 to 395,000 in 2025. More than 40% of anticipated permanent resident admissions in 2025 will be from those who are already in Canada as temporary residents (X).

Second Gentleman Doug Emhoff’s Ex-Girlfriend Provides More Details After He is Portrayed As the Perfect Husband
Daily Mail: Doug Emhoff’s ex-girlfriend has spoken exclusively to DailyMail.com claiming that he slapped her in the face so hard she spun around at a 2012 celebrity event in France. The woman, a successful New York attorney, is remaining anonymous, but decided to speak out after Emhoff, Kamala Harris’s husband, denied the claims through a spokesman. Emhoff’s accuser, who DailyMail.com is naming only as ‘Jane’, initially declined to comment on the record. But Emhoff’s denial, and his alleged hypocrisy by claiming to be a feminist in media interviews, finally became too much for her. DailyMail.com broke the story about the alleged unprovoked attack on October 2, by reporting accounts from two friends she told immediately after the incident, a third she told in 2018, and documents evidencing her relationship and trip to France with Emhoff. The bombshell allegations, which followed Daily Mail.com’s revelation in August that Emhoff cheated on his first wife with his daughter’s nanny Najen Naylor, received little or no coverage from politically center-left major news outlets. Emhoff admitted the affair in a statement in August but his spokesman gave only a short denial of the alleged violence to a politics news site a day after we exclusively reported the slap allegation. But the second gentleman has since continued to brag about his long-held feminist values in softball media interviews arranged by the Harris presidential campaign. ‘Every time I see Doug on TV portraying the persona of a perfect spouse and non-toxic man, I wonder if Najen is watching too and feeling as disgusted as I am,’ Jane said (Daily Mail). New York Post: About a week after the assault, she confided the ordeal to a friend who previously worked with Emhoff at Venable, a law firm based in Washington, DC. That individual claimed that Emhoff had a “bad reputation” with women there. Accusations from the Second Gentleman’s former colleagues at Venable say that he was “inappropriate” and “misogynistic” toward his female colleagues (New York Post).

Biden, Harris Promote Woman Accused of Being Iranian Spy
She was rewarded for committing treason. Free Beacon: The Biden-Harris administration has promoted the senior Pentagon employee who was outed as a member of an Iranian government-run influence operation. Ariane Tabatabai is now a deputy assistant secretary of defense within Defense Secretary Lloyd Autin’s office, where she will lead its force education and training division. Tabatabai, according to Politico, was offered the promotion last month. She previously served as chief of staff for the assistant secretary of defense for special operations and low-intensity conflict. Tabatabai became a public commodity after a 2023 Semafor report outed her as a member of an Iranian government propaganda group known as the Iran Experts Initiative. The affiliation saw Tabatabai report back to Iran’s foreign ministry and communicate with senior officials in the hardline regime (Free Beacon). Reporter Adam Kredo: Harris Admin Promotes Pentagon Employee Tied to Iranian Influence Network — Ariane Tabatabai, outed as a member of the Iran Experts Initiative, will now lead DoD’s ‘force and education training’ (X).

President Trump Petitions Judge to Toss Federal Election Subversion Case Due to Jack Smith Being Unconstitutionally Appointed
Hill: Attorneys for former President Trump on Thursday asked a judge to toss out his federal election subversion case by arguing that special counsel Jack Smith was unconstitutionally appointed.  The new motion, submitted to U.S. District Judge Tanya Chutkan, mimics the argument Trump made in Florida, which led a separate federal judge to toss the former president’s documents indictment…Now, Trump is hoping for the same luck in Washington, D.C., where he faces four felony charges for allegedly conspiring to subvert the 2020 election results. He has pleaded not guilty…Smith is due to respond in writing by Oct. 31, but his team has previously rejected such arguments (Hill).
