I just read a heartbreaking story about a 13-year-old pregnant child in Idaho who needed urgent medical care.


Because of our state's extreme new parental consent law, doctors had to wait for permission from her incarcerated grandmother before they could even examine her.

The law, championed by my opponent Mike Simpson and his MAGA allies, requires parental permission for almost all medical care for minors - even in cases of pregnancy, mental health crises, or when parents are absent or abusive.

 

Medical professionals, counselors, and even school nurses now have their hands tied when trying to help vulnerable kids.

 

As a father, this hits close to home. No child should have to navigate a medical emergency while doctors are forced to track down parents who may be unavailable, unfit, or unsafe. Yet this is exactly what Simpson supported when he backed this dangerous legislation.

 

The consequences are severe: teens are denied mental health care due to parental refusal, sexual assault victims face barriers to medical examination, and schools require parental permission just to give a child an ice pack.

 

With just 12 days until Election Day, we have a chance to stop these extreme policies that put our children at risk. But I need your help to defeat Simpson and his MAGA agenda in Idaho District 2.
