How Much Longer Can Lawmakers Milk Their Intransigence on Immigration Reform? - The Peterson Institute for International Economics found that Trump’s plan to deport 15 million to 20 million undocumented immigrants would reduce the U.S. gross domestic product, and it would have a disproportionate effect on the food industry, cutting the available workforce in agriculture by 16 percent. That, in turn, would trigger a 10 percent rise in food prices. Construction companies have been struggling with labor shortages for years, and homebuilders now say that deporting undocumented workers will lead to significantly higher home prices. Immigration has become a defining issue of the presidential election, but as has been the case for more than a decade, politicians prefer that voters don’t think too hard about it. Without meaningful reform, the broken system will continue.

Poll Finds Swing State Voters Concerned About Out-of-Control National Debt - According to a recent report released by the Peter G. Peterson Foundation, more than 90 percent of voters across seven key states – Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, Nevada, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin – say that it’s important for presidential candidates to have a plan to rein-in the national debt. “The numbers don’t lie - the American people are concerned about our country’s unsustainable fiscal path, and rightfully so,” said House Budget Chairman Jodey Arrington (TX-19). “Record deficit spending is devaluing the dollar, weakening our economy, and pushing us closer to a debt crisis. We must rein-in Washington’s out-of-control spending and restore fiscal sanity before it’s too late."

Congressman Crenshaw Leads Congressional Criticism of Biden-Harris Push for Harmful Plastic Production Caps - Congressman Dan Crenshaw led a letter sent by Members from the House Energy and Commerce Committee and House Foreign Affairs Committee to United States Secretary of State Anthony Blinken raising concerns about the Biden-Harris administration’s recent announcement supporting plastic production caps in the United Nations’ Global Plastics Treaty. Their new position is alarming, as production limits on plastic manufacturing would significantly hamper U.S. economic activity and make the country more dependent on foreign countries with lower emissions standards.
