Here’s what we’ve been facing lately:
First, we’re seeing a flood of mailers hitting voters’ mailboxes from AIPAC’s super PAC, the United Democracy Project (UDP).
They’ve already dropped almost $900,000 on this race, sending attack mailers smearing our campaign and two separate mailers in support of Jimmy Gomez.
This is the first general election race they’ve invested in, and they’re willing to spend whatever it takes to protect their investment in Jimmy.
We’re hearing from folks on the ground that it’s creating confusion and spreading misinformation, but we know voters are smart enough to see through these tactics.
To keep our vision alive and counter this influx of misinformation, we need your help now. Will you contribute today to help us cut through the noise and keep our community-focused campaign strong? Your support keeps our message on the air and our canvassers out in the field.
These smears are just part of a broader, well-funded effort by outside corporate interests to sway this election and maintain their status quo.
Meanwhile, Jimmy Gomez still hasn’t returned the hundreds of thousands of dollars he received from corporate PACs, despite his claims to not take corporate PAC money.
It’s a classic case of saying one thing and doing another, all while banking on the financial support of corporate developers, debt collectors, and special interests who have their own agenda.
But here’s the good news: We’ve been here before.
Last race, Jimmy and his special interests outspent us 7 to 1, spending $27 per vote vs. our $4.24 per vote. And yet we still came within striking distance of victory.
Now, we have 12 days to show the country that the strategy of “any blue will do” has been an utter disaster.
It’s time to elect representatives who are truly community-led and committed to co-governance. That means prioritizing policies like affordable housing, universal healthcare, and accountability in leadership.
We don’t need to match special interests dollar-for-dollar; we just need enough to keep our message up in the airwaves, digital spaces, and with canvassers on the ground.
We’ve proven we can do this before, and with your support, we can cut through the noise and win this race.
Help us finish what we started. Chip in today and let’s show them what a people-powered movement looks like.
It’s time for us,
David Kim
