Putin Appears to Say That North Korean Troops Are in Russia

Vladimir Putin appeared to acknowledge on Thursday that North Korean troops had been deployed to Russia, commenting for the first time on the assessment of Western officials that the reclusive Asian country had joined Russia’s war effort against Ukraine, as the NYT reports.

Russia Provided Targeting Data for Houthi Assault on Global Shipping

Russia provided targeting data for Yemen’s Houthi rebels as they attacked Western ships in the Red Sea with missiles and drones earlier this year, helping the Iranian-backed group assault a major artery for global trade and further destabilizing the region, as the WSJ reports.

WH Issues AI Memo

The White House is directing the Pentagon and intelligence agencies to increase their adoption of artificial intelligence, expanding the Biden administration’s efforts to curb technological competition from China and other adversaries. The edict is part of a landmark national security memorandum published Thursday, as The Washington Post reports.
