Our organizations brought together more than 100 working-class leaders of color across four boroughs to interview mayoral candidates – and our leaders saw themselves in the solutions laid out in Zohran’s campaign.
These leaders and our membership bases represent over 50,000 working class New Yorkers from Black and immigrant communities. We are domestic workers, cab drivers, delivery drivers, street vendors, daycare workers, construction workers, tipped wage workers, college students, office workers, day laborers, small family businesses, and more.
We’re all sick of elected officials scapegoating asylum seekers and unhoused New Yorkers instead of addressing the root causes of the problems facing our city – poverty and inequality.
Zohran understands that the cost of living is crushing working people, causing more working-class families of all backgrounds to be driven out of NYC.
His bold vision for the future of our city centers the needs of New York’s working class – including freezing rents for rent-stabilized tenants, creating world-class public transit, and expanding free childcare.
As the right-wing continues to grow as a political force across the country and within our communities, we must confront this trend head on with meaningful changes in the lives of everyday people.
Our organizations see Zohran’s campaign as one that boldly confronts the right’s false solutions through a clear vision and plans that mean real improvement in the lives of our members and communities.
We’ll release a full slate of ranked-choice endorsements as the race progresses, but we’re thrilled to be a day-one endorser of Zohran’s campaign.
