Meet Alicia*, a determined single mom of four who faced significant challenges after losing her job. With one of her children recently diagnosed with autism, and she herself on a waiting list for an organ transplant, she struggled to provide for her family. When she first reached out for help, she felt overwhelmed and uncertain about her situation. She had previously applied for SNAP benefits, formerly known as Food Stamps, but believed her case had been denied since she hadn’t received any updates or notices.

During our review, we made an incredible discovery: her case had actually been approved, and benefits were waiting on a card she didn’t know existed! Unfortunately, her case had closed due to a missed renewal deadline, leaving her unaware of the essential support available to her. With our assistance, she was able to reopen her case and secure $805 per month in benefits. That’s
$9,660 in assistance over the course of a year, dwarfing the help she could receive from even the best stocked food pantries. She was immensely grateful for our help,
feeling a renewed sense of hope for her family’s future.
