Hi John
We had a large turnout at our LIFE CHAIN at Belfast City Hall on Saturday, when people from across Northern Ireland came to stand IN REMEMBRANCE of the 8490 precious babies murdered by abortion.
It was five years ago this week in October 2019, when abortion was forced on Northern Ireland by the Westminster Parliament through Section 9 of their NI Executive Formation Act. Since then, more than 8,490 innocent unborn babies have lost their lives to this barbaric legislation.
8,490 babies killed by abortion is an average of 6 babies killed EVERY DAY
8,490 babies killed by abortion is the equivalent of 314 classrooms full of children being killed
8,490 babies killed is equivalent to the total population of the town of Newcastle, Co Down being killed
Speaking to the assembled crowd at City Hall, Bernadette quoted the words of Holocaust survivor Elie Wiesel who said, "...to forget the dead would be akin to killing them a second time." We must never forget all those 8490 babies killed. We marked this 5th anniversary with a poignant display of baby shoes laid out at the gates of City Hall, forming the number ‘8 4 9 0’. The shoes, each with a boy’s or girl’s name attached, represented a life taken by abortion. The shoes were surrounded with small white crosses and a memorial plaque for all babies killed by abortion. This heart-rending Memorial Display, seen by thousands of people passing the City Hall on a busy Saturday afternoon, served as a stark reminder of the real human cost of abortion in Northern Ireland.
We took our Memorial Display to Stormont on Tuesday. The baby shoes, white crosses and memorial plaque were laid at the steps of Parliament Buildings.
We had earlier sent invitations to all the Assembly Members to join us at the steps in remembrance of the 8490 babies. Representatives from the TUV and DUP came out of their Stormont offices and joined us for our commemoration. They respectfully read the names on the shoes as they reflected on the enormity of the scale of such a loss of human life.
Sadly, the MLAs from SDLP, Sinn Fein, Alliance Party, UUP and PBP refused to take part in the commemoration, or even acknowledge those 8490 babies killed in Northern Ireland by abortion.
