Hi John,
It is with deep appreciation for colleagues and the criminal legal reform community that I announce that I am leaving my post as Co-Director of Research at The Sentencing Project after 16 fulfilling years with the organization. Nazgol Ghandnoosh will assume the role of Director of Research in November.
I am proud of the impact of the work I helped advance while at The Sentencing Project these many years. I have been dedicated to exposing the racial injustice within the criminal legal system and uplifting the hopes and highlighting the challenges of people serving life. I am optimistic that research I led examining life imprisonment and its devastating prevalence and harm will help ultimately bring a much needed end to life without parole sentences and limit all extreme sentences.
Your support and commitment to this work has made my role all the more meaningful. I know that with your continued support The Sentencing Project will lead the way towards ending mass incarceration while ensuring community safety and advancing racial justice.
I look forward to seeing you out in the field to continue this fight.
