Indivisibles,

If your phone has been flooded with texts about the election, you’re not alone. Campaigns have been sending billions of messages this cycle and the reason is pretty simple: texting is a quick and relatively cheap way to reach a large audience. But that doesn’t mean that it’s always being used effectively.

In fact, we’ve seen a lot of evidence that much of the conventional GOTV texting that campaigns have used in the past just isn’t driving a significant increase in turnout anymore. That’s why we’ve been trialing new tactics and today, we’re excited to share one that we think can have a big impact on the election.

It’s called zip code social pressure and here’s how it works: We identify low-propensity voters who are less likely to turn out than their neighbors. Then, we send them a simple message that includes the actual turnout stats in their zip codes. It’s a simple tactic that relies on social pressure to get people voting, and it's proven to be more effective than the standard GOTV texting.

In fact, it’s so effective that we’re looking to expand our texting program and send an additional 600,000 texts to voters in Ohio, Texas, Nebraska, and North Carolina. We know a proven tactic like this could help us win key races to protect our Senate majority and help Kamala Harris flip North Carolina. But we can’t run it without your support.

We need to raise $24,000 to cover the costs of our expanded texting and we don’t have much time to do it. So, if you can donate today please click here to pitch in and help us ramp up our texting in key swing states.

We're constantly testing and developing new ways to get out the vote. Whether we're improving on traditional canvassing with our Neighbor2Neighbor tool or finding better ways to mobilize voters through texting, we count on our grassroots donors to fund this work. In fact, small-dollar donations helped fund our initial trial run of pressure texting in the 2023 Pennsylvania Supreme Court race. The lessons and data we gleaned from that initial run helped shape our 2024 GOTV texting.

Now, with the race as close as it is, we think this new tactic could have a huge impact and the additional 600,000 voters we reach could help us win a Democratic trifecta. So if you’re able to donate today and you want to invest in tried and tested GOTV efforts, please click here to pitch in and help us ramp up our texting program.

P.S. We’re all set on texting volunteers, but we still need people calling voters and knocking doors, so please click here to join one of our upcoming phonebanks and check if Neighbor2Neighbor is available in your area.
