Life in the Lowcountry

We volunteered with Meals On Wheels to deliver meals in the Lowcountry. We witnessed firsthand how a warm meal and a friendly face can truly brighten someone's day, especially during difficult times.

All Hands on Deck!

When things get stormy, we are out and ready to help! During Debby and Helene we were OUT, filling sandbags, delivering supplies, and more. We met University of South Carolina's student government and helped carry out their “Stuff the Bus” initiative. From bottled water and non-perishables to hygiene products and blankets, this community-driven effort is making a real difference for families in need. KUDOS to USC!

Always Standing with Israel

We will continue to advocate for the safe return of all hostages and remain unwavering in our commitment to stand alongside the Jewish community.

We recently joined the Free the Hostages Walk hosted by Chabad of Charleston, standing in solidarity with Israel from day one, supporting their right to defend themselves and combat terrorism.

We also attended the Charleston Jewish Federation's event marking the anniversary of 10/7. To the Jewish residents of the Lowcountry: we see you, and we will always be here for you. The horrific attack on Israelis last year claimed over 1,200 innocent lives, leaving an indelible mark on all of us. As antisemitism rises across America, we stand resolute in our commitment to fight hate and protect our Jewish communities.

SCEMD Tour:

We toured the South Carolina Emergency Management Division, met with Governor McMaster, and the S.C. National Guard to discuss ongoing hurricane relief efforts in our state. Hurricane Helene caused significant damage across South Carolina, and recovery efforts are still in full swing. Our state and federal agencies are working together to provide relief to impacted communities, ensuring families and businesses get the support they need to rebuild.

Standing Up for Charleston County

Recently, we exposed Charleston County’s Sanctuary Sheriff Kristin Graziano after a whistleblower revealed that she allowed an illegal alien pedophile, who had solicited a minor, to remain in Charleston County instead of turning him over to ICE. One of her first actions in office was to end the County's cooperation with Immigration and Customs Enforcement, and now dangerous criminal illegal aliens are out on the street.

We formally requested all communications between the Charleston County Sheriff’s Office and ICE, including documents related to ICE detainer requests, illegal aliens apprehended by the Sheriff’s Office, and the termination of the 287(g) agreement. The deadline for submitting these documents was October 15, 2024. Rather then cooperate, Graziano continues to stonewall, making up her own rules and treating this as though it is a FOIA request, which is not.

This is not the only controversy Sheriff Graziano has been involved in, and we are holding her feet to the fire.

Our Office was Awarded the Hero of Main Street Award

Our office has been recognized as a 2024 'Hero of Main Street' by the National Retail Federation for our strong support of the retail sector and small businesses in the Lowcountry.

Excessive regulations and red tape have stifled small businesses, and with South Carolina's retail industry contributing $69.2 billion to the U.S. GDP, it's vital to foster an environment where job creators can thrive. We remain dedicated to championing policies that empower and support local businesses, ensuring they have the opportunity to grow and succeed. You can read our press release here.

ICYMI:

Our bill, H.R. 7909, the Violence Against Women by Illegal Aliens Act, passed the House! H.R. 7909 aims to protect women and girls by ensuring illegal aliens convicted of sex offenses or domestic violence, or those who admit to such crimes, are deemed inadmissible to the U.S. It also calls for the deportation of individuals convicted of a sex offense or conspiring to commit such an offense. Our work isn’t done—the bill now moves to the Senate, and we’ll keep pushing to ensure it becomes law. You can read our full press release on the bill’s passage here.

Right before leaving for recess, Majority Whip Tom Emmer, gifted us his famous hockey puck as a 'congratulations' for passing H.R. 7909!

In a historic move, the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) has decided to halt all scheduled experiments involving cats, marking the end of such testing at the VA. This decision follows our office’s relentless advocacy and efforts alongside the White Coat Waste Project. The experiments, which included implanting medical devices in cats, will no longer proceed. This milestone represents a major victory in our continued efforts to promote animal welfare and ensure responsible use of taxpayer dollars. You can read our statement here.

We Are Still Introducing Legislation While in Recess!

We simply cannot sit still—we've introduced 5 bills this October recess. Here's some of what we're working on:

A Bill to Terminate FEMA’s Shelter and Services Program (SSP)

FEMA has been using millions of taxpayer dollars to provide shelter and services for illegal immigrants. Our bill will ensure all unspent SSP funds are immediately redirected to help those impacted by natural disasters, like the hurricane victims of Helene. Disaster relief dollars should go where they are needed most—helping our citizens rebuild and recover. This legislation is about putting Americans first and making sure taxpayer funds are spent wisely on those who need it most. Read the full bill here

The Primates Act of 2024 to End Painful NIH Experiments on Monkeys

On September 17, 2024, we introduced the PRIMATES Act to stop the NIH’s painful and often ineffective experiments on nonhuman primates. Each year, millions of taxpayer dollars and government grants are wasted on research which provides little benefit while causing immense suffering to intelligent creatures. The bill will ban the NIH from conducting or funding experiments which inflict significant pain on primates and will require the agency to relocate these animals to sanctuaries. Additionally, it mandates the NIH report on efforts to phase out primate testing entirely and focus on humane alternatives. With this bill, we’re demanding the NIH end these practices and prioritize humane, alternative research methods which respect the lives of these animals. The bill has been endorsed by the White Coat Waste Project. Check out the bill here.

The No Funds for Fascists Act to End U.S. Aid to Governments Suppressing Free Speech

We introduced the No Funds for Fascists Act, a bold initiative to stop U.S. financial support to governments infringing on free speech. With attacks on freedom of expression rising globally, this bill ensures American taxpayer dollars are not used to support regimes suppressing basic human rights. It reinforces our commitment to defending free speech, both here and abroad, while holding oppressive governments accountable for silencing dissent and curbing the flow of information. Check out the bill here.
