Friend, we’ve been talking about our biggest challenges as a nation on my podcast, “Assembly Required.”
Recently, we talked about voting rights. Now I’ve raised the alarms on voter suppression for years, but I don’t think we can understate the magnitude of these recent developments. As of May, voters in 21 states will face restrictions on their right to the ballot box that they’ve never seen before.
That’s where we are, but we can make it better.
- Vote for pro-democracy candidates up and down the ballot.
- Work and organize at the local level. These are the most important bodies - state legislatures, city councils, and school boards control so much of our day-to-day lives.
- Build a long term movement for structural change in our democracy that addresses the electoral college, gerrymandering, and the Supreme Court.
