Make a generous gift to the Everytown Victory Fund before October 31

John–

My name is Gretchen Whitmer, Governor of the great state of Michigan. And today, I'm asking you to make a generous contribution to the Everytown Victory Fund.

Unfortunately, Michigan is no stranger to gun violence. In the last few years, two mass shootings on school grounds—one at Oxford High School and the other at Michigan State University—changed our lives forever. I didn't hestitate to jump to action.

In the wake of these tragic and preventable events, I worked with my colleagues across the aisle and signed crucial bipartisan gun safety legislation into law.

Michiganders—and Americans everywhere—deserve to feel safe, whether they're picking up their kids from school or grocery shopping. That's why it was so important to act quickly and pass common-sense gun violence prevention laws—background checks, secure storage, extreme risk protection orders, stronger penalties for domestic abusers, getting illegal guns off our streets, and greater investments in mental health and local law enforcement—to keep families safe.

But far too many communities don't have these protections in place. Right now, there are candidates running for office at all levels of government that share our values and desire to live in a country free from gun violence. We must do all we can to get them elected.

I was a Gun Sense Candidate when I ran for governor, and now I am proud to help the Everytown Victory Fund send even more Gun Sense Candidates to public office. We can elect Gun Sense Candidates up and down the ballot who will make a real difference in the lives of their constituents by working together. But that depends on what we can accomplish in the final days before Election Day.

So I'm asking you personally: Will you please make a donation to the Everytown Victory Fund ahead of October 31st and support their efforts to lift up Gun Sense Candidates across the country?

I'm proud of the work we've done in Michigan to mitigate gun violence, and now it's time to elect more leaders across the country who will do the same.
