John, with Vice President Kamala Harris preparing to campaign alongside my friend Colin Allred in Houston tomorrow, I wanted to share with you a metaphor about this election. And yes, it’s about football.

Kamala’s running mate Tim Walz was a state championship-winning football coach.

I earned a scholarship to play Pac-10 football at Stanford as a tight end.

Colin Allred starred at Texas’ Baylor as a linebacker before his NFL career.

Coach Walz has said that right now, it’s the 4th quarter. Our team is down, and the clock is running out — but we’ve got the ball, and we’re driving down the field.

Great teams, and great players, know that the star quarterback can’t win by themselves. It takes players doing the blocking and tackling to clear their path.

It’s not just about Kamala Harris turning out 15,000 Democrats at a capacity arena. It’s about a gritty organizing team getting 150 volunteers to go out and knock on their neighbors’ doors to make a plan to vote the next morning.

Everything right now matters — every phone call, every door knocked, every $10 donation to help reach that voter on the margins.

They say football is a game of inches, but this isn’t a game. It’s about your life, your future, and the future of our country.

So please, John, I’m humbly asking:

Pitch in to help give us the winning edge on November 5. I won’t give up until the clock hits zero.
