We live in a world where people are constantly telling others what they can or can’t do with their bodies. We’re shamed from every direction - preached at to eat healthy, strive endlessly, dress appropriately, reverse aging (as if). It is not just the private struggle with our inner critic, it is a public expression of how we judge each other and are perceived and policed by systems of power. From incarceration to disability violence to anti-abortion laws to denial of gender affirming care, we are struggling to defend our fundamental right to bodily autonomy. Women and marginalized people are especially vulnerable to being objectified and governed by legislation, religious institutions, employers, family members and culture. Messages of what bodies are supposed to look like and what we are supposed to do with them circulate in every aspect of our lives. We’re surrounded. Society sets impossible standards and demands our conformity.

Shame is political. Not only does it fuel the all-American obsession with being perfect, skinny, productive and successful, but it is the driving force behind a system that thrives on controlling bodies to keep people performing their roles in the dynamic systems of oppression. Shame works to keep us in line by silencing our voices and separating us from one another. 

And this election is no exception. People shaming one another for who they are or aren't voting for isn't going to get any of us free. Turning against each other vs turning against the systems that created this mess in the first place is just more of the same. But shame based strategies don't work - not only do they make us feel like shit but they divide us and prevent us from coming together and building power to push back against systems of insecurity and dominance. 

Healing shame invites us to look at the ways we have internalized these logics and how they are holding us back from ourselves and each other. From there we can turn towards a politics of care and reimagine a future everyone can thrive. 

Who knows WTF is going to happen over the next few weeks and months, but you can plan on this for an election decompression and whole-ass reset! 

RESET 2025 is a radical and embodied inquiry into what’s holding us back and what’s needed for us to step into our greatest potential. Through movement, meditation, radical reflection, rest and recreation, we will unwind and release all that we are carrying so that we can open up to all that we are becoming. It will be a generous balance of practice and play as we reflect on where we are coming from and imagine into where we are going.

Set in the idyllic coastline of Mazunte, Mexico, our journey will be inspired by movement, cradled by nature, nourished by locally sourced cuisine/meals, held in sacred space, so that we can slow down, untangle ourselves from old patterns, and recalibrate with who we are and what we are here to do.
