Re: Key dates and razor-thin majorities

John, there’s a lot at stake in Minnesota this election season.

Minnesota’s state legislature hangs in the balance in 2024 — and with it, so does the power to pass new redistricting reforms, continue the state’s amazing progress, and provide a key check on Republican attempts to gerrymander.

Control of the Minnesota State House could come down to a handful of votes — and the NDRC is working around the clock to reach as many voters as possible between now and November 5th. Help keep up the fight to make sure the voters’ voices are heard in Minnesota and in battleground states across the country. [[link removed]] 🗳️ Early voting started: Sept 20th

Control of the State House Will Be a Nail-Biter

In 2022, just 321 votes flipped control of the State Senate to a one-seat Democratic majority and created a blue trifecta with the State House and governorship.

That’s right: Democratic state senator Judy Seeberger (one of our Democracy Defenders that year) won by a few hundred votes, spending $123,922 while her Republican opponent raised $137,143. That’s why every dollar, every donation — no matter how small — really matters in these tight races.

Defending a Democratic Majority

That one-vote majority has been able to make great gains on paid and medical leave, workplace protections, voting rights, gun safety and more. And it hangs in the balance this November.

We simply can’t let up this momentum and must ensure pro-democracy leaders stay in office. From passing free school breakfast and lunch to restoring the voting rights of ex-felons, we cannot watch the progress the Minnesota one-vote majority has accomplished be undone by extremist politicians.

Step up with a donation to power the NDRC’s work electing pro-democracy champions in states like Minnesota, Arizona, New Hampshire, and more. [[link removed]]

A Special Election in a Pivotal Year

A Democratic state senator resigned earlier this year, leaving an even 33-33 split. A special election this November will determine who will replace her and could make or break whether Democrats continue to have a trifecta in Minnesota — in other words, whether Democrats will control both legislative chambers and the governorship, and can pass pro-democracy legislation.

You can help us elect Democracy Defenders in Minnesota and across the country with a donation to the NDRC. [[link removed]] Thank you,

Team NDRC
