Dear John,Â
Â
If you’re a parent, you know it’s one of the greatest joys of your life.
Â
If you’re a parent, you know it’s one of the most stressful parts of your life.
Â
And if you’re a parent, you know that finding – and affording – the safe, enriching, joyful child care that all our kiddos deserve is one of the most stressful parts of one of the most stressful parts of life.
Â
In 2023, the Minnesota state legislature passed a lot of transformative bills, but when it comes to making child care affordable for all of us, they didn’t seal the deal. That’s why we’re asking Minnesota legislators to sign onto our pledge, to commit to ensuring that every family pays no more than 7 percent of their income for childcare. To make sure they hear us, that’s why we’re asking you to let them know that you’re voting with childcare on your mind.
Â
It’s simple and easy: write “I’m a Childcare Voter” on a sign and send us a quick selfie, whether in response to this email or tagging us on Instagram.
Â
Then, register now for our upcoming Minnesota United Parents (MNUP) meeting on Sunday November 10th, just after the election, to become an even greater part of our plan to win childcare for all children and all parents in Minnesota.
Â
Every day, we’re growing the organizing power we need to elect childcare champions and work with them to deliver for our families, and tip the scales in favor of joy over stress.
Â
In solidarity,Â
Â
Lindsay Turner (she/her)
