Happy Mothers Day!

Moms have been multi-tasking more than ever these past two months — and I am especially in awe of those who have added home-schooling to everything else you already do. I know sometimes it just seems like too much. So hopefully you're getting a breather today, and your family will provide you with some good old-fashioned R & R!

Now, forgive me for broaching a very serious subject on what should be a happy day. I suppose we can be glad for the obvious. With schools closed, school shootings are down. The other side of that coin is that kids are home — and not necessarily safe. Each year hundreds of children are involved in unintentional shootings, often because they have access to unsecured weapons in their own homes.

During the pandemic, we've seen gun sales go up dramatically. So safe gun storage has never been more critical!

Gun safety issues are close to my heart this Mother's Day — and this is where Moms Demand Action comes in. I am so thrilled to have received their designation as a Gun Sense Candidate!

Our lawmakers in Congress must take aggressive steps to reduce the influence of the NRA and get weapons made for war off our streets.

Here in Oregon we are standing up to the Trump administration's inaction, and I plan to move forward supporting safe storage, as well the elimination of " ghost" (unserialized) guns. We must do what we can to protect our children and families from gun violence.

As long as I have the honor of serving as Oregon's Attorney General, I'll stand with groups like Moms Demand Action to help find solutions that will save lives.
