Climate scientists are out with a new report.

They found that the Earth’s natural process of absorbing the greenhouse gasses that cause climate change were almost totally ineffective last year. 

It’s really bad news, and means our work is more urgent than ever — so we need your help scaling up our work, no matter the election result.

I don’t usually spend a lot of time explaining science, but this is important. Vegetation, oceans, and other natural systems normally absorb huge amounts of greenhouse gasses. But this year, because of droughts, wildfires, deforestation and warming, these carbon sinks collapsed. 

This is awful news, and almost nobody is talking about it. Most politicians either deny the problem or don’t have a plan to confront the climate crisis with the urgency that science demands. And the billionaire oil moguls causing this crisis are doing everything they can to make more money as our planet collapses. 

The only way out is through movements. In the next four years, we need to transform the politics around climate change. We’ve done it before. In 2018, we launched the Green New Deal and forced climate onto the national stage. We won the biggest climate investment in US history. Now, we need to take the next step.
