Anti-Israel Activists Pay Tribute To 10/7 Architect Yahya Sinwar
After Israeli military forces killed Hamas’ leader and October 7 architect Yahya Sinwar in Gaza, U.S. anti-Israel activists quickly responded with praise and veneration for the terrorist who masterminded the deaths of approximately 1,200 Israelis and foreign nationals and the abduction of some 250 people just over one year ago. Student groups were among the loudest to do so. These groups were also joined by antisemitic individuals with online audiences.

This most recent wave of support for infamous terror group leaders demonstrates how, as ADL has frequently documented, many activist groups that claim to be “anti-Israel” or “anti-Zionist” in fact openly revel in violence against and the murder of civilians — and Jews in particular — in Israel.

Fix Wikipedia’s #Fail on What Zionism Is: An investigation reported on by the Jerusalem Post
[link removed]
(read it here) revealed that Wikipedia’s page on “Zionism” is being partly edited by a user with strongly anti-Zionist views. The result is that Wikipedia, which had 92 billion visits last year, is skewing the narrative about the Jewish State and erasing the experiences of millions of Jews. As ADL said this week, “Yet again, we see implicit anti-Zionist bias among Wikipedia's editors. While we welcome the suspension of one egregious editor, the caused harm continues as historical distortions & misinformation remain viewable.” As a reminder, Wikipedia is the same platform that recently deemed ADL “generally unreliable” on antisemitism and the
Israel-Palestinian conflict.

In the latest episode of ADL’s extremely podcast, Oren Segal and Jessica Reaves from the ADL Center on Extremism sit down with Albertson, a Chinese-American Jewish advocate and educator, to talk about the challenges of Jewish life in 2024 and how she responds to bigotry targeting the Jewish and Asian communities.

Why to Say ‘No’ to Campus BDS Calls: With anti-Israel campus protesters at many schools demanding action on BDS, universities are being pressed to respond.

Watch the video recording of a timely conversation about “The Cost of Divestment for University Endowments” with ADL affiliate JLens and the leading expert on university fiduciary duty, Professor Max M. Schanzenbach, Professor of Law at Northwestern University. Schanzenbach argued divesting from Israel would not be in the best interest of universities’ charitable missions to support higher education and advance and impart knowledge and therefore “violates fiduciary investment law”. The webinar also delves into JLens’

recent report which found that the 100 largest U.S. university endowments could collectively forgo $33.2 billion in returns over the next decade if they divest from Israel.

Widening the Good Fight: ADL’s Words to Action education program is growing its reach! A new partnership with Moishe House expands Words to Action to 15 Moishe Houses in Europe, further lifting the program which is already in 24 countries and empowering thousands of young participants. ADL’s Dalia Grinfeld, who helps lead this effort in Europe, explains why this is so badly needed: “an astounding four out of every 10 citizens of these countries believe half of the antisemitic conspiracies presented before them.”

Demand An Accurate Entry on Zionism from Wikipedia. Wikipedia’s current definition of Zionism is wildly inaccurate, rooted in antisemitic claims about Jewish life and history, and erases the experiences of millions of Jews, including Ashkenazi, Mizrahi, Sephardic, African and others. For more than two decades, a core principle of Wikipedia has been that it should “strive for articles with an impartial tone” and “avoid advocacy.” Wikipedia has fallen miserably short of its own core principles.

@JGreenblattADL
When students storm a university building, vandalize and damage property and unlawfully barricade the entrances and exits with people still inside, it’s no longer peaceful protest. I applaud the University of Minnesota @UMNews for upholding its policies and swiftly acting to safeguard the campus community.

As ADL’s George Selim said at the 2024 @EradicateHate Global Summit, the current wave of antisemitism is unlike any we’ve seen in recent history, but we've made significant strides in combatting hate. We can never lose sight of the persistent threat that antisemitism poses.

ADL spoke with the @Twitch staff after becoming aware of several concerning incidents on the social media platform and/or involving Twitch streamers in the past week. We appreciate @Twitch making the right decision to finally suspend the streamer Frogan for abusing her platform and the @TwitchCon event to spread antisemitic vitriol during this time of intense apprehension for the Jewish community.

We are horrified by reports of this incident in Boro Park that took place on Yom Kippur, the holiest day on the Jewish calendar. A visibly Orthodox Jewish man was reportedly harassed and threatened, with the perpetrator allegedly yelling “I’m gonna kill you Jews.” Thankful to @Shmira and @NYPD66Pct for the quick response.
