Muska's journey, from seeking safety to becoming a full participant in democracy, is a powerful testament to her resilience and the impact of your support for refugee families like hers.
Muska is from Afghanistan and resettled with her family in Phoenix, Arizona when she was just 12 years old.
Muska is an entrepreneur. In 2012, and with the help of the IRC, she started her own business selling imported traditional Afghan and Pakistani clothes.
"When I came to the United States, I saw a completely different future here," Muska said.
Her dream is to have a career in medicine, and she has taken classes towards that goal.
"I want to study medicine in the U.S., you know, help women in this country but also maybe one day go back to Afghanistan to help women and girls there too."
Muska shared how meaningful it was for her to vote for the first time in 2020:
"As a citizen of the United States of America, it is my right and my duty to vote. I know that this right did not come easy to many in the U.S. When I vote, I think about education, immigration and women's rights—issues that I believe are related to one another.
