Dear John
Last night, Burma was on the news. ITV correspondent Debi Edward went into Karen State in south east Burma, where the Karen ethnic armed group, the KNLA, are leading resistance against the military dictatorship.
She met with villagers forced to flee Burmese military bombs and are now living in temporary shelters. Some “are still so traumatised they sleep in the forest rather than in the wooden shelters, which they fear could still become a target.”
Burma Campaign UK worked with journalists at ITV, providing background information and contacts on the ground.

Despite the devastating human rights and humanitarian crisis in Burma, it’s very difficult to get media coverage. So it’s great to see Burma in the news, helping to raise awareness of the crisis.
As the ITV correspondent says at the end of the report, “the one message we kept hearing from those we met was “Help us” tell the rest of the world not to forget about us, we need their support.”
Thank you for your support. We will be in touch again soon with ways you can take action to help.
