John, did you see Ai-jen’s #RosieChallenge selfie? Have you taken the #RosieChallenge yet?
It’s an easy way to support the moms — and all the women across the country who have been on the frontlines — working and caregiving with no break since this pandemic began.
This Mother’s Day might be bittersweet. So many of us are dealing with situations that we never thought we’d be in right now. In isolation. Cooped up day and night with kids. Mother’s Day without mom.
Moms deserve our thanks and gratitude today. But they also deserve more.
Will you stand with the incredible women who are working to care for our families, our homes, and our communities? It’s called the #RosieChallenge, to remind us of Rosie the Riveter. Just as Rosie kept the country running during World War II, caregivers of all kinds are keeping our communities running today.
Here’s what to do:
-
Take a selfie in a “Rosie the Riveter” pose, or a pose you’re able to do, like my example below. No need to make it fancy — you can use the camera on your phone or computer!
-
Post your selfie to your Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter accounts to show the world that you stand with caregivers and domestic workers. Here’s a message you can use:
I accept the #RosieChallenge from @caringacrossgen because we're all caregivers in this moment. The frontlines start in our homes, where family caregivers are doing essential work. [@tag], [@tag], [@tag], show me your Rosie pose! #CareForAll
Your Rosie selfie will show caregivers they aren’t alone and the world that caregiving matters. And you’ll be joining thousands of other people taking action this weekend. With the support of people like you, we’re working with two Congressional champions — Rep. Deb Haaland of New Mexico and Rep. Joaquin Castro of Texas — to demand Congressional leadership focus on essential workers and family caregivers.
We’re fighting for stronger protections and Family Care benefits; free COVID testing and care; ongoing cash assistance that is inclusive of all working families; and more. We’re fighting to make Congress #CareForAll.
Happy Mother’s Day, and thank you,
Beth Shipp

PS — The Caring Across team did the #RosieChallenge on our staff meeting Zoom call this week. Do you have a Zoom call with folks who would be interested in showing their support? Challenge them and grab a screenshot to share!
