Hello John --
This is no doubt a different Mother's Day for many of us in Washington state and across the country.
For many people, this could be the first Mother's Day they've spent away from their moms, their children, or their extended families.
Parents are no doubt under greater stress -- from homeschooling children and worrying about finances to wondering about kids who are grown up and are facing this pandemic as adults.
I'm doing my part and staying at home, like many of you are -- but I'm still fighting for our workers, our farmers, our small businesses, and our families all across Washington in Congress.
Since this crisis began, I've been leading efforts in the House to fight for families, especially those who COVID-19 has put in the impossible position of having to choose between rent and food.
In Congress, I'm leading efforts to enable the development or preservation of 68,000 affordable rental homes, which will also create thousands of new construction jobs. I'm also fighting to expand child tax credits and provide $100 billion in relief for renters across the country.
What you all are doing is just as important. #TogetherWA, we are stronger than this virus.
On this Mother's Day, I hope you'll smile knowing that so many Washingtonians are lifting each other up and working together.
Please take a moment to read and share the positive, caring and heartwarming stories I've included at the bottom of this email.
Thank you,
