Local Convention Happening November 23rd @ 2PM

Sacramento DSA's Annual Local Convention is ramping up to start at the Arden-Demnick Library and Zoom, at 2 pm on November 23rd.

?

Per our bylaws, our chapter is to conduct a convention every year to vote on bylaw amendments and chapter resolutions, also to discuss our previous year's work and chapter priorities for the next year.

?

The agenda and our convention rules are drafted by the chapter's local convention working group. ?Both are amended and approved by the membership at the beginning of the convention.

?

A draft of the proposed convention rules is attached to this email. ?Feel free to review and offer proposed changes.

?

Members are encouraged to not only attend but also to submit resolutions and bylaw amendments!

?

The deadline to submit bylaw amendments is 11:59 PM 11/1/2024

?

We ask that chapter resolutions be submitted by 11/9/2024 to ease the burden on the local convention planning working group. ?Individual members, caucuses of members, and chapter committees are all welcome to collaborate and submit resolutions.

?

We will also begin voting for our 2025 chapter Steering Committee at the convention. ?See below for more information on how to run for the SacDSA steering committee.

Bylaw Amendment Submissions

?

Bylaw amendments must be submitted no later than 11/1/2024.

?

Bylaws are meant to be the procedural guidelines for the chapter. ?If you see flaws in our current bylaws, outdated bylaws, or any room for improvement, feel free to collaborate with your comrades and submit proposed amendments. ?Proposed amendments must be submitted as either a PDF or Word Document.

Chapter Elections

?

If you are interested in running for any position on the steering committee, feel free to reach out to any current member of the steering committee with any questions by emailing us at [email protected]? Nominations for the chapter election will open on 10/31/2024 and will close 11/20.

?

The SacDSA Steering Committee consists of:

2 Co-Chairs

1 Treasurer

1 Secretary

1 Communications Director

4 Organizers

?

Members are welcome to run for any of these positions.

Convention Rules

?

Per our bylaws, a draft of the convention rules must be posted at least 1 month before the convention. ?The rules can and will be amended and approved by a vote on the convention floor before any other convention business proceeds. ?Again, we want to stress that the rules released here are a draft and can be amended.
