I've got my friendship bracelet on as I write this out to you, friend — and I'm fully in my "Florida!!!" era.
That's right, even if my kids say I'm too old to be one, I'm a Swiftie! I love Taylor Swift, and I'm so excited that she visited Miami for the final leg of the Eras Tour.
Taylor and Florence Welch treated Floridians to the song she wrote about our beautiful state (and of course, it's one of my personal favorites!!). In fact, I'm so enamored with our state that I have my own "Love Story" to Florida. It has a lot to do with why I'm running to defeat Rick Scott and give our people the leadership they deserve in the U.S. Senate.
Can I share that love story with you, friend? (Before you continue, I've also got to ask you to chip in $5 or more to my campaign to defeat Rick Scott — because polls show us tied with just 13 days until Election Day!)
Here's what I remember the first time I stepped outside of the airport here in Florida to visit my sister: the welcoming warmth of the weather, the beautiful greenery all around, and the lively, diverse communities who were just as welcoming as the heat that enveloped us.
It didn't even take 10 minutes to know "All Too Well" that the Sunshine State would be my eventual home.
I was right. I fell in love in Florida (love ya, Robert 🩷), raised a family of my own here, and began dedicating my career to serving this state. I worked to protect what makes me love Florida so much: our beautiful wildlife and coral reefs. On top of that, I led new programs to improve access to affordable health care for Floridians.
"Call It What You Want," but this immigrant from Ecuador became a Florida girl at heart, and I eventually had the incredible privilege of serving my community in the U.S. House of Representatives, becoming the first South American immigrant in Congress.
In the House:
- I wrote the bill to expand seniors' Medicare Advantage coverage to ensure more Americans could get the care they deserve.
- I worked with Republicans to provide economic relief to families and small businesses.
- I secured $200 million for Everglades restoration.
- I fought tirelessly for common sense gun safety reforms and served as the vice chair of the Gun Violence Prevention Task Force.
So "long story short," friend, I truly love Florida. I will do whatever I can to better our state and the people who live here. My opponent, Rick Scott, on the other hand — talk about "The Smallest Man Who Ever Lived." He's looking out for only two people: himself and Donald Trump. He's done absolutely nothing to help the people of this state, and yet he's spending his fraudulently earned, multimillion-dollar fortune to cling to power.
I'm ready for the day when we can say this about Rick Scott: "I Forgot That You Existed." We are so close to defeating him and making that Taylor Swift song a reality: Polls show us TIED, and the experts at Inside Elections have increased my chances of winning!
But that doesn't change the fact that I'm up against the $37 million that Rick Scott is shelling out in ads to defeat me, and I still haven't closed in on my $500,000 daily fundraising goal. So if you're "...Ready For It?" — ready to win this election — then I'm asking you to rush a donation of $5, or whatever you can, to help me win in Florida and protect our Democratic Senate majority!

Thank you,
