Friend, I know this isn’t the typical email to be sending when we’re less than two weeks away from Election Day, but it’s important to me that you know why I’m running for re-election. This email is a little long, but I hope you’ll read all of it.

I was raised by a single Army mom who taught me the value of hard work, and the importance of serving both our country and our community. And she taught me never to let any artificial barrier stand in the way.

Those are lessons I carried with me as I juggled multiple jobs to pay my own way through school — and after I graduated, when I went to work in economic and community development on Native American reservations.

I carried them with me when I flipped a Republican-held seat to become the first LGBTQ+ Native American ever elected to Congress.

I’m running for re-election because I carry these lessons with me every day in this job, as I fight for my community and the values we share. And if, after reading all this, you feel like supporting me in this campaign, I’d be extremely grateful to have your help in getting my message out far and wide over these final days of the race.

But let me be clear — I’m not asking for your support because of the path I took to get here.

I’m asking for your support because of my record of representing this community.

Day in and day out, I’ve worked to deliver common-sense solutions — because that’s what the people of Kansas elected me to do.

Together, we created over 20,000 clean-energy jobs right here in KS-03. We slashed the cost of insulin for seniors, and we passed the most far-reaching gun violence prevention law in a generation.

But our work is far from finished. I’m determined to restore abortion rights, defend our democracy, and make our economy work better for Americans who are struggling today — and this next election will determine whether we have the opportunity to do that.
