Friends,

As we approach election season, many of us are asking, “How can I make decisions that honor my faith?” It’s easy to get overwhelmed by the noise of politics, but as Christians, we are called to seek truth and justice. Let’s talk about how we can do that.

Step 1: Know What Matters to God

The first thing we need to remember is that our vote should align with biblical principles. We know that the Bible speaks to issues like the sanctity of life, the importance of family, religious freedom, and justice for the oppressed.
Before diving into researching candidates, take some time to pray and reflect on what the Bible teaches about these issues. Ask yourself: What matters to God?

Step 2: Use Reliable and Non-Partisan Resources

There’s so much information out there, but not all of it is helpful or accurate. I recommend starting with non-partisan resources to research candidates and policies objectively.

Here are some helpful sites that are found on pji.org:

🔹 Election Forum
🔹 iVoterGuide
🔹 Christian Voter Guide

These resources offer a biblical perspective on many issues, evaluate candidates based on their positions and provide guidance on how candidates align with Christian values.

Step 3: Evaluate Candidates and Platforms

When researching candidates, focus on their positions rather than their party affiliations. Ask yourself:

🔹 Do their policies uphold biblical values like justice, compassion, and truth?
🔹 What is their stance on key issues like the sanctity of life, religious freedom, and the role of the family?

You can also look at their past voting records and public statements to get a sense of their consistency and integrity.

Step 4: Pray for Wisdom

Finally, we cannot underestimate the power of prayer. James 1:5 says that if we lack wisdom, we should ask God who gives generously to all.
Pray for clarity, and ask the Holy Spirit to guide you as you evaluate the issues and candidates. We want to make decisions that reflect God’s heart for justice, mercy, and truth.

Staying informed is an important part of our calling as Christian citizens. Let’s do our research, rely on reliable resources, and most importantly, seek God’s wisdom in this process.
