I am writing to you this afternoon asking you to make a contribution directly to Tammy Baldwin's campaign for United States Senate in Wisconsin.

This is important.

If Tammy Baldwin loses this race, Democrats lose control of the Senate. Period. There is no way around it. It probably also means Donald Trump wins Wisconsin and becomes the next president.

And I think we all understand that if Republicans have control of the White House or the Senate after this election, the chances of accomplishing anything significant and positive with respect to the working people of this country becomes virtually non-existent.

At the same time, you can feel good about your donation to Tammy Baldwin.

Tammy was an early sponsor of legislation to raise the minimum wage to $15 an hour. She is a co-sponsor of our Medicare for All legislation. She understands the importance of transitioning away from fossil fuels and toward energy efficiency and sustainable energy. We've held a number of campaign rallies and events together over the years and its important that we keep her voice in the Senate.

But she's in a close race against a private equity executive who is spending obscene amounts of his own money to win this race. At the same time, his brother is financing a super PAC supporting him.

Together, they are trying to buy this election, and Tammy needs our help to make sure that doesn't happen.
