Dear Supporter,
While some politicians casually offer up proposals to slash the Social Security benefits of millions of Americans, they forget that this program is there for Americans of all ages, providing:
The National Committee’s recent podcast episode ( [link removed] ) explains why Social Security is a great deal for everyone — and must be protected, not cut.
Yet, instead of shoring up Social Security for the future, some candidates have supported proposals to privatize the program, cut the annual Cost-of-Living Adjustment (COLA), raise the retirement age, and means test benefits which would turn Social Security into a welfare program and cut middle-class benefits.
These proposals could seriously weaken a vital lifeline for tens of millions of American, both young and old.
Social Security WILL be there for us in the future IF we vote for candidates who truly support it!
That’s why I urge you to find out how your congressional candidates voted on key issues relating to Social Security — and then vote to protect this vital program on Election Day. ( [link removed] )
