Let me tell you a little more about our two amazing guests.
PJ Raval is the award-winning filmmaker and director of the feature documentary Who We Become (2023), streaming now on Netflix!
His film follows three Filipina-American young women who are doing the hard but necessary work of having difficult conversations with their immigrant parents about safety, democracy, and why it's important to them to show up for Black lives ahead of the 2020 election.
Victoria Huynh is the Founder and Chief Community Organizer at Georgia AAPI Hub, and a member of our Beyond Democracy cohort of artists, advocates, and community organizers in the South.
With support from TOA and the cohort, Victoria translated the "legacy" narrative pillar from our Beyond Democracy research into diverse, culturally competent videos in different languages. These PSAs feature real community members, inviting them to see themselves in the work of creating a better world for future generations.
From filmmaking to organizing, I hope you'll join us to hear insights and ask questions about the power of storytelling to create change.
