John, This Mothers’ Day is unlike any other. Many of us are spending it away from our mothers this year -- because folks are still serving their community as essential workers, or because we are responsibly practicing social distancing to keep our families safe and healthy. But regardless of the arrangements, what’s not forgotten today is the important role mothers play in our lives. The work mothers put in is tireless and too often goes unappreciated. And for that, I’d like to say thank you. Today, like all days, I am grateful for the two most important women in my life: my mother Rose Marie, and my wife Veronica. I am thankful for their care and compassion as mothers, and for the example they set for our entire family. In times of crisis, it can be difficult to find moments of light and positivity. So today, be sure to thank a mother for all they do. As always, I am honored to serve you, and I hope you have a happy Mothers’ Day. -- Sheriff Paul Penzone
