Dear John,
Elon Musk recently announced that he will start donating $45 million per month to a super PAC supporting Donald Trump’s campaign. That comes out to more than $1,000 per hour, day after day and week after week from now until the election. This is an extremely large amount of money that will only further put the election in the hands of the powerful and wealthy.
As Sen. Bernie Sanders pointed out, Musk’s attempt to buy the outcome of the presidential election is a compelling argument to overturn the disastrous 2010 Citizens United Supreme Court decision, which opened the floodgates to unlimited corporate money in our electoral process.

The Citizen’s United decision is one of many terrible decisions by an out-of-control Supreme Court. Unlimited, dark money should have no place in our democracy or elections. The power in elections needs to be in the hands of the people, not the rich and powerful.
