Hello,

This Mother's Day I want to take a moment to tell you about my mother, Dawn. Whether she was making homemade Halloween costumes and teaching me how to paddle a canoe to find the best blueberry bushes on Lake Winnipesaukee or serving as my biggest cheerleader on the campaign trail and making thousands of homemade buttons for our supporters, she has always been there for me. My sister, Alyssa, and I are so lucky to have her love and support in our lives.

As we face these unprecedented challenges there are mothers like mine across the country stepping up to help care for their communities and families.

Whether they're doctors and nurses serving on the front lines, teachers developing new ways to educate, business owners figuring out how to care for their employees, crafters making protective masks, or moms doing the heroic work of parenting during this crisis -- mothers are stepping up. Thank you for everything you do.

Election Day 2012

While this Mother's Day will be unlike any before, the meaning remains the same. It's a day to celebrate the women who raised us.

Whether together or apart, let's remember to give these extraordinary women the gratitude and respect they deserve for all they have done for us, our communities, and our country.

My best wishes to you and your family for a happy and healthy Mother's Day,

Chris
