Hello,
The past two months have forced many mothers to take on new roles.
Mothers of school-age children are continuing to feed, love, and care for their children -- while also acting as teachers and entertainers to keep their kids busy and juggling work responsibilities at home. Others are providing their adult children with a home once again, or guiding them through challenges few of us have ever faced while remaining at a distance.
It's especially important this year that we show our appreciation for all the work mothers take on each day.
While our ability to gather together with family may be limited and our favorite restaurants may be closed, we can still take a moment to say thanks, write a heartfelt note by hand, and try to give our mothers a break today on Mother's Day.
We may not know when life will return to normal, but I know that I will continue to thank our nation's mothers by fighting for them and their families, today and every day.
As this crisis continues, I'll work to ensure that families receive the support they need and have access to the affordable health care every one of us deserves. I'll also work to ensure that every woman receives equal pay for equal work and that every parent has access to paid family leave.
We all can and must do our part to thank the mothers in our lives, to help ease their burden, and to celebrate them.
Thank you, and happy Mother's Day,
Bob
