Team,

Happy Mothers Day! Today is a day to celebrate mothers -- after all, none of us would be here without their hard work, sacrifice, and love.

I have two mothers in my life I'd like to celebrate -- my wife, Smitty and my mother, Mary. I couldn't be more grateful to have Smitty by my side through this journey. Her resilience and love for Caitlin is truly a blessing to our family and our entire community.

And of course, I am beyond thankful for my own mother. I wouldn't be where I am today without her support and guidance. This week, especially during National Nurses Week, I want to thank my mother not only for raising me but for serving her community as a nurse for her entire career -- and she even came out of retirement to provide palliative care for my late father. I saw how hard she worked and the physical and emotional toll it took on her.

During our current COVID-19 crisis, I think of my own mother when I hear stories of nurses coming out of retirement to ease the strain on their community's medical system. I think of her when I hear about nurses going above and beyond, risking their lives while caring for an overwhelming volume of complex patients. And I'm especially heartened by the sacrifice and bravery of the nurses who are taking on extra shifts and distancing from their own families on this Mother's Day.

In the midst of this crisis, I appreciate all that my mother has done more than ever. And I think I'll be celebrating my mother, and all mothers serving on the frontlines, with a little extra love this year.

We owe everything to our mothers. So, today and every day, let us celebrate the brave and resilient women in our lives! Happy Mother's Day to you and yours!
