Over 15 million Americans use GLP-1 drugs like Ozempic and Wegovy to treat diabetes and obesity. Yet many are paying $1000 or more out of pocket each month for these treatments, leaving millions more unable to access them. Some people are even turning to risky compound versions of this drug that lack FDA approval.

Meanwhile, Novo Nordisk has made nearly $50 billion on the sales of Ozempic and Wegovy since 2018, with nearly three-quarters of those profits coming from U.S. sales. While Americans spend over $12,000 annually on these lifesaving medications, patients in other countries may pay as little as $60 each month.

GLP-1 drugs have the potential to curb obesity while treating related conditions like diabetes and heart disease, leading to lower healthcare costs for everyone. But that’s only if patients can afford them and insurance companies will cover the cost.

We can’t allow major drug companies to bleed Americans dry for vital treatments. Tell Congress: Stand up to Big Pharma and cap prescription drug prices. 

Americans pay more for their medications than any other country. Over 9 million Americans tried to save money by skipping doses of their medications in 2021. Meanwhile, Big Pharma’s high prices and lobbying efforts resulted in $38.7 billion in combined earnings the following year.

No matter the condition or coverage, we must ensure that all Americans can access the medications they need.
