Dear Friends and Colleagues,
We are just two weeks away from a critical election for U.S. energy policy. With so much at stake—energy security, affordability and the transition to cleaner technologies—now is the time to support leaders who understand the need for commonsense, all-of-the-above energy solutions.
That’s why Citizens for Responsible Energy Solutions (CRES) was proud to announce our slate of congressional endorsements for the 2024 general election cycle. We are supporting three Republicans running for U.S. Senate and 37 Republicans in the U.S. House of Representatives who have consistently demonstrated their commitment to an all-of-the-above energy strategy that reduces global emissions, drives innovation in next-generation clean energy technologies and ensures Americans have access to reliable and affordable energy.
Many of them are members of the U.S. House Conservative Climate Caucus (CCC) and have led significant efforts on Capitol Hill to streamline the federal permitting processes, protect clean energy incentives, bolster critical mineral supply chains, promote domestic energy production and advance energy innovation.
These endorsed candidates are not only leaders in Congress—they are champions for their diverse districts and states. Their policies reflect a deep understanding of the challenges facing American families and businesses, and in a time of rising energy challenges and demand, we need more leaders like them at the decision-making table.
As we approach Election Day, we hope you will also support these candidates who have a proven track record of balancing energy and economic growth with environmental stewardship.
You can read our full list of endorsed candidates HERE.
Sincerely,
|

“Today we gather under the flag of conservatives to have a framed discussion about what role in time we have being good stewards over this Earth. And it’s that simple, no judgment, no debate about science, no shaming for driving a truck, no insisting that we destroy industry or our energy base. But rather a thoughtful discussion about making the most of what God has given us.” – Rep. John Curtis (R-Utah) in remarks during the 3rd annual Conservative Climate Summit.

“As a member of the Conservative Climate Caucus, I support solutions that promote innovation, invest in clean energy infrastructure, reduce emissions, and foster conservation. Great to meet with the Clean Energy Conservatives in Midlothian to discuss clean energy policies!” – Rep. Rob Wittman (R-Va.) in a recent tweet.

"In alignment with our All-American, All-of-the-Above energy plan, small modular nuclear reactors will play a critical role in positioning Virginia as a leading nuclear innovation hub.... Amazon Web Services' commitment to this technology and their partnership with Dominion is a significant step forward to meet the future power needs of a growing Virginia." – Virginia Gov. Glenn Youngkin celebrating Amazon’s announcement to partner with X-Energy and Dominion Energy

About The Advancing Research in Nuclear Fuel Recycling Act...
“CRES applauds Sens. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) and Martin Heinrich (D-N.M.) for bringing attention to the need of innovative solutions for managing domestic spent nuclear fuel. While countries like France have a long track record of safely and securely reprocessing nuclear fuel, the United States banned commercial nuclear reprocessing in 1977 during the Carter Administration. We applaud this bill as a meaningful step toward reconsidering the misguided moratorium on reprocessing to usher a new generation of innovative technologies that can help our nuclear sector bolster and diversify its fuel supply and better manage spent fuel.” – CRES President Heather Reams in a statement.

About The Unearth Innovation Act...
“CRES applauds Sens. Thom Tillis (R-N.C.) and John Hickenlooper's (D-Colo.) bipartisan work to strengthen American leadership in critical minerals, as outlined in the National Critical Minerals Council Act and Unearth Innovation Act. These bills represent a crucial step forward in driving the responsible production of domestic critical minerals, which is pivotal for our nation's energy security, technological advancement, and environmental stewardship. By fostering innovation in mining technologies and ensuring a long-term critical mineral vision and strategy, this legislation will help the U.S. reduce dependence on foreign adversaries while enhancing domestic production capabilities.” – CRES President Heather Reams in a statement.

About The Critical Materials Future Act...
“CRES celebrates Sens. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.), Todd Young (R-Ind.), John Hickenlooper (D-Colo.) and Chris Coons (D-Del.) for bringing bipartisan attention to our nation's vulnerable critical material supply chain. As China dominates critical material refining and processing, there is a compelling case to diversify and onshore critical minerals and resources. While we also support permitting reforms and other mechanisms that are necessary to ensure long-term stability and certainty in supply chains, we appreciate this effort as a meaningful step toward addressing the challenges U.S. producers have in securing a robust domestic supply.” – CRES President Heather Reams in a statement.

CRES Forum hosted the sixth and final CRES Academy session of 2024, "Nuclear 101: The Role of Nuclear Technologies in Powering the Future.” The session featured distinguished panelists for a discussion on the vital importance of nuclear assets for the future of energy in the U.S. The panelists included Andy Zach of the Senate Committee on Environment and Public Works, Lucian Niemeyer of the United Coalition for Advanced Nuclear Power (UCAN), David C. Brown of Constellation Energy, Marcus Nichol of the Nuclear Energy Institute (NEI) and Alexa Ingram of the Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA).
Following the session, congressional staffers who attended at least five of this year’s sessions were awarded their very own CRES Academy Diploma. Congratulations to the CRES Academy Class of 2024!
