In our 35^th year as an organization, the National Homelessness Law Center is proud to confidently stand in our values and do our work in collaboration with legislative advocates and movement partners whose values and identities align with the populations that we represent. We are especially excited for this year’s Honorees, whose diversity reflects that of the movement to end homelessness.

The National Homelessness Law Center is thrilled to announce Georgia State Senator Kim Jackson as the 2024 State Legislator Honoree.

Senator Jackson is being honored for her incredible efforts to fight against the criminalization of homelessness. In 2024, Senator Jackson partnered with the Southern Poverty Law Center to introduce a bill to begin implementing these recommendations, including legislation to create a permanent Interagency Council on Homelessness, including membership of unhoused Georgians.

For all these reasons and more, we are excited to celebrate Senator Jackson at this year’s Human Right to Housing Awards event.

The National Homelessness Law Center is delighted to announce Atlanta City Council Member Liliana Bakhtiari as the 2024 Local Legislator Honoree. 

Council Member Bakhtiari has championed the rights of unhoused persons in Atlanta at all levels, from taking action to mitigate electoral disenfranchisement disproportionately borne by unhoused voters to confronting systemic modular housing inequities and shelter bans faced by homeless young people. For all these reasons and more, we are excited to celebrate Councilmember Bakhtiari at this year’s Human Right to Housing Awards event.

We want to celebrate with our entire community! We have a limited number of tickets in our ticket bank to provide free admission to join us at this year’s Human Right to Housing Awards.

Tickets from the ticket bank will be granted on a first come first served basis and will prioritize applicants with lived experience of homelessness, students, and community partners who would not otherwise be able to join us.
