Reminder: Townhall Meeting on October 24

I wanted to remind you about a townhall that I will be participating in with the Minnesota Catholic Conference at St. Henry's Fellowship Hall at St. Henry's Catholic Church (234 2nd Ave SW, Perham, MN 56573) on Thursday, October 24th, at 6:30 p.m.

At this event, the Minnesota Catholic Conference will provide valuable insights into their work at the Minnesota Legislature. I will share my experiences collaborating with them on critical public policy issues that impact our community. Attendees will also have the opportunity to ask questions and engage in meaningful discussions.

Changes to Emergency Medical Services

I spoke with WDAY TV News about proposed changes to emergency medical services in the Fergus Falls area. Watch their segment to learn more about the current situation.

2024 Farm Families

The University of Minnesota announced the recipients of the 2024 Farm Family of the Year awards! Congratulations to the families in our region who have received this prestigious award! Your dedication to the agricultural industry and our community is so important. Thank you for all your hard work and commitment!

Nursing Home Funding

Nursing homes across Minnesota recently received their second round of Nursing Facility Grants. In our community, this program provided more than $5 million in total for 11 local facilities. This funding is improving the financial stability of our nursing homes and helping to sustain the important services they provide.

Please read the full article and let me know what you think!

September’s Townhall Meeting

I recently joined Minnesota Family Council representatives for a legislative townhall at Life Church in Fergus Falls. The event brought together community members to discuss important legislative updates related to faith and family for the 2023/2024 biennium.

I am grateful to the MFC for hosting this event, and I appreciate all the members of our community who attended. I will continue to fight for the rights of our Minnesota families and religious organizations.

Fergus Falls Recognized

Fergus Falls was recently recognized for the development taking place downtown. We’ve been able to partner with the City of Fergus Falls to get the following done:

  • Reauthorized the historic tax credit: this program is being used for the Red River Flour Mill transformation into a new hotel
  • $4 million for riverfront revitalization: funding to re-develop the ~30 acres of the old dairy site along the Otter Tail River
  • Correction to bonding bill: unlocked state funding for riverfront pavilion project

Updates from the Office of Cannabis Management

During the past two legislative sessions, I have worked to strengthen our state’s cannabis laws to better protect Minnesota consumers. This includes an amendment I successfully introduced to block those who violated cannabis law after August of 2023 from getting licenses.

I am glad to see the Office of Cannabis Management issuing more citations, but there remains a lot of illegal product out in the marketplace and people who are not following the law. I hope OCM takes this seriously and makes sure we are not rewarding bad actors with licenses.

RDO Expansion

Congratulations to RDO Equipment Co. on their expanded and enhanced location in Fergus Falls! We appreciate your investment in our community
