------------------------------------------------------------
Dear Readers,
Anyone feeling tense lately? As if there’s some sort of big event on the near horizon? The election will come, whether we like it or not, and the dedication of the nonprofit sector to improve lives and society will continue. That’s at least one prediction, in this season of endless polls and projections, in which we can be confident.
NPQ is here for you as you do this work. This week’s Leadership newsletter continues upon last week’s theme of burnout, but this time with a focus on taking care of ourselves through vehicles like sabbaticals. A report ([link removed]) by The Sabbatical Project ([link removed]) suggests that more employers are offering sabbaticals, at least to executives. We’ll be tracking the trend to see whether nonprofit workers at other levels benefit as well.

First, we examine various ways leaders, especially BIPOC leaders in nonprofits, can center restorative principles in their work ([link removed]) . Then, we take a look at the findings of research into the transformative potential of sabbaticals ([link removed]) . Then, we cover the growing movement of sabbaticals for BIPOC leaders ([link removed]) . Finally, we invite you to attend our upcoming Premium webinar: QuickBooks for Nonprofits ([link removed]) .
As always, the Leadership desk wants to hear from you. What would you like to see more—or less—of? Do you have questions you’d like us to tackle? Email Leadership Editor Isaiah Thompson at
