Dear Friend,
The Dáil is set to vote TOMORROW Wednesday, 23rd October on a motion initiated by Gino Kenny TD to note the Report of the Joint Committee on Assisted Dying delivered earlier this year.
As you may know the majority Report of the Joint Committee recommended introducing assisted suicide/euthanasia while a Minority report was also published dissenting from those recommendations (authored by Senator Rónán Mullen and Deputies Michael Healy Rae and Robert Troy). You can read the Minority Report here.
It’s important to note that the vote which is taking place tomorrow will not result in any legislation on this issue. Whether or not legislation is proposed depends on the make up of the next Government. However a NO vote will send a strong and essential message to the politicians who will make up that Government.
For now, we ask you to take a few minutes TODAY to send a personal email to the TDs in your constituency asking them to vote NO tomorrow and to support better palliative care for vulnerable patients rather than euthanasia.
You can find full details of your TDs by clicking the button below. You can search by TD name or Constituency. If you are unsure of your constituency, please reply to this email and we will assist you.
