Folks,
I'm reaching out to you amid a national COVID-19 lockdown in Jordan to ask for your support.

I'm a pharmacist with the IRC, and as an essential health worker, I'm continuing to provide reproductive health services to Syrian women at Azraq refugee camp.

The majority of the refugee women we serve are pregnant and in need of immediate care. With the dedicated support of donors like you, I provide expectant mothers with reproductive health medicine and supplements, while also informing them on how to stay safe from COVID-19.

Refugees, like the women who come to our clinic, are among the most vulnerable in this pandemic. Many families live in overcrowded camps and don’t have the luxury of social distancing. The advice given to protect ourselves from the virus—stay at home and wash your hands with soap and clean water—is often not possible for refugees to follow.

The situation is truly urgent, John. We need to keep ramping our response and we can't do that without your support.

May 5 is #GivingTuesdayNow, a global day of giving and unity. Please, will you join us in supporting refugees worldwide? Your generosity today will help the IRC provide urgent health care, protective gear, hand-washing stations and other vital aid.

We know there is only a short window of time to stop the coronavirus from running rampant in crisis zones. Your support will help us scale up our response right now and save lives.

In war zones like Syria and Yemen, where years of fighting have devastated health systems, IRC teams are working around the clock to detect, respond and prevent further spread of the disease. We're also continuing to deliver essential health services and emergency relief.

John, you can help us reach more vulnerable families.

In Cúcuta, Colombia, where Venezuelan families have sought safety after fleeing economic turmoil, the IRC has set up a COVID-19 call center run by doctors and nurses. People can call in to describe their symptoms and get referrals to our clinic and other service providers.

Here in Jordan and in 40+ countries worldwide, we are doing increased outreach to the refugees we serve to ensure they are aware of how to protect themselves from the virus and where to seek support if they become ill.

This #GivingTuesdayNow, rush your gift to help us mitigate the spread of the virus and continue providing life-saving aid for refugee women and families worldwide. Every donation we receive today will be matched by a generous donor—making your gift go twice as far. »

John, the fact that we are still able to provide our services makes me feel responsible, dedicated and valuable. My hope is that you feel the same way.

With deepest gratitude,

Tamara Quran

Mafraq, Jordan

All gifts up to $50,000 will be matched until 11:59pm on May 5, 2020.
