Introducing Our New Campus Initiative

Dear John,

This is Dahlia M. Taha, the new Young Leaders Policy Manager at the Muslim Public Affairs Council (MPAC). I wanted to introduce you to our recently started vital research initiative and campaign aimed at understanding and improving the dynamics of student protests on U.S. college campuses, particularly those involving Muslim and pro-Palestinian groups.

Our new Policy Advocacy Fellow, Misaal Irfan, is leading a vital Misaal Irfan Headshotresearch initiative to evaluate how university administrations, law enforcement, and political leaders respond to student protests, particularly those involving Muslim and pro-Palestinian groups. Misaal’s in-depth analysis will result in a comprehensive report that offers targeted recommendations for improvement, along with an institutional “report card” to assess the fairness and effectiveness of these responses.

By collaborating with legal experts and researchers, we will also examine potential First Amendment violations to ensure that student protestors’ rights are upheld. This critical work will clarify the legal frameworks protecting student expression and provide essential resources to support student communities and engage with broader stakeholders. The project will result in these valuable outcomes:

  • Detailed report with targeted recommendations for institutional improvement
  • Institutional “report card” to assess fairness and accountability
  • Thorough investigation into potential First Amendment rights violations
  • Development of guidance and resources for student communities and stakeholders
  • Advocacy to foster equitable and inclusive campus environments

This ambitious research initiative represents a $60,000 investment, and we need your financial support to ensure its success. Your contributions are crucial in helping us address these complex issues and advocate for meaningful changes in how institutions respond to student advocacy. With your help, we can continue to protect student voices and drive impactful solutions that uphold justice and civil rights.

Contribute to this Project

We look forward to keeping you updated on the progress of this important project over the coming months and sharing the impactful outcomes with you.

Thank you for your trust and partnership in advancing our mission.

Best regards,

Dahlia M. Taha
