The vast majority of women imprisoned across the United States are incarcerated for nonviolent offenses: drug crimes, property crimes and parole violations. Tragically, nearly two-thirds of imprisoned mothers have never received a visit from their children.
This painful separation of children from their mothers has a dire impact on families and communities.
As we prepare to celebrate the special women in our lives this Mother’s Day, please keep in mind the mothers at CRDF—and across the country—who cannot be with their families.
And if you haven’t already, please consider making a gift to ARC’s Rapid Response fund, which will provide a lifeline for ARC members—some of them mothers—struggling to provide basic needs for themselves and their families.
And remember, every contribution made to ARC by midnight on Mother’s Day (Sunday, May 10) will be matched, doubling the power of your support.
Thank you for your compassion and partnership, enjoy your Mother’s Day, and stay well!
Sincerely,
Sam
