Good afternoon,

It has been a busy week in both Arizona and Washington as I welcomed President Trump back to the valley and joined him on his tour of a local Honeywell facility where they are making N95 masks. Later in the week, I returned to Washington to participate in a roundtable discussion with the president and other Republican lawmakers.

Encouraging Stories

On Sunday, I was honored to participate in a birthday parade for two local veterans, Joe Berger and Robert Vice, of Anthem. Mr. Berger turned 100 and Mr. Vice turned 65. It was so fun to be part of such a wonderful community event.

Casework Highlight

A constituent received notification from the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) that his disability benefits were being reduced. He requested the VA provide him with his complete medical records, including records from his compensation and pension examination, to use in his appeal. After being told it would take 150 days to process his request, he contacted my office for assistance. We were able to ask that his appeal be delayed until he was able to obtain his VA records and we obtained the records needed within 60 days.

Coronavirus Casework Highlight

A constituent contacted my office because her friend’s mother was stuck in Morocco when the Moroccan government grounded all flights into and out of the country. My staff worked with the State Department and we were able to help provide information that resulted in the constituent getting a flight back to the United States.

As always, my office is here to help. My staff located in both Surprise and Washington, D.C. are currently working remotely. However, both offices are fully operational and stand ready to assist you. Feel free to contact us via phone, 623-776-7911 or 202-225-4576, or via email by going to my website at https://lesko.house.gov/contact/.

I encourage you to visit the website and to also follow me on Twitter and like my Facebook page for up to date information about the ongoing outbreak and available resources.

I would also like to wish all of those who are mothers a very Happy Mother’s Day! Being a mother and grandmother has been one of my greatest joys. Though our celebrations may be different this year, I hope you and your family have a blessed day.

May God continue to bless you and our great Nation.

Sincerely,

Congresswoman Debbie Lesko
