When my grandmother Lucile was born in 1917, women couldn't even vote. Now, at 107 years old, she might lose that right again because of the MAGA GOP - and she's not alone.

The SAVE Act, a sinister voter suppression bill that Republicans tried to force through last month, has not gone away, and it could strip millions of American women of their voting rights. Here's the kicker: it's all hidden behind impossible documentation requirements.

Let me explain how this affects my grandma - and potentially millions of married women in America.

A few years ago, when Idaho implemented "Real ID," we hit a major roadblock trying to get Grandma Lucile's driver's license renewed. Her birth certificate, being over a century old, didn't have the "seal" modern birth certificates have. Instead, she had a certificate of live birth signed by witnesses - all of whom had been dead for 60 years.

The state's solution? Find those long-deceased witnesses and have them sign a new, notarized version. It was absurd.

It took months of persistent effort to finally get someone at the DMV to understand her unique situation and approve her license. Without that, she wouldn't have the state ID required to vote.

Now, imagine that nightmare scenario playing out for millions of women across the country. That's exactly what the SAVE Act threatens to do.

Here's how it works: The bill would force voters to show proof of citizenship PLUS a current ID with the same name. Sounds simple, right? It's not.

About 90% of women change their names when they get married. That means their current ID won't match their birth certificates or other proof of citizenship. Under this law, a huge portion of married women could show up to vote and be turned away like they don't even exist.

This isn't just about my grandmother. It's about your mother, your sister, your daughter, your wife. It's about every woman who's fought for the right to have her voice heard.

We have just 15 days until Election Day. That's 15 days to stop this assault on voting rights. 15 days to ensure that the progress my grandmother has witnessed in her lifetime isn't erased in the blink of an eye. We MUST flip the House. This is why I'm running against MAGA Mike Simpson and why I'm asking for your help.
